THE CURRICULUM

JUNIOR PROGRAM
Pre-School Dance/Music & Movement
Ages 3 to 4
Classes move through an imaginative dance adventure, capturing and nurturing young children’s instinctive joy of movement and freedom of expression. Class themes, such as visiting The Enchanted Castle or discovering The Secret Island, encourage class participation, focus, confidence and exploration. This playful approach to learning dance promotes creativity, physical fitness and spatial awareness. Children also learn to become more cooperative and sociable.

Pre-Ballet (Pre-Primary & Primary Ballet levels)
Ages 5 to 6
A fun, structured class introducing the basics of classical ballet: correct posture, weight placement, control of turnout, spatial awareness and sense of rhythm. Children also learn to perform a sequence of simple steps to depict a story.

CLASSICAL BALLET PROGRAM
Ballet for Ages 7 & Up
Classes provide a broad practical dance education with Classical Ballet at its core. Free Movement and Character are included to supplement and enhance the training of classical ballet. Free Movement is found in Natural Movement, Contemporary, and Classical Greek Dance; and Character is national dance that have been freely adapted for theatrical presentation. Students will gain self-confidence through learning and performing appropriate steps and sequences.

As the student’s knowledge expands and their skills improve, classes will focus more and more on the development of technique, music and performance skills. Students work on precision and technical accuracy, and gain knowledge and understanding of mood, dynamics and rhythm leading to an assured musical and artistic performance.
